KNWU National Track Selection

Realization of the KOGA KINSEI

KOGA already developed a special bicycle for Theo Bos for the Beijing Games, the Kimera. Now the new track bikes - specifically tailored to each rider - are designed and developed for the entire selection. The riders and staff of the national track selection play an active role in the realization of the new bicycle. The project started in March 2017 with a co-creation session in which the wishes and insights of the riders served as input. “Super inspiring to be able to work on the optimal bicycle together with engineers and designers,” says track sprinter Jeffrey Hoogland (multiple European champion).

But much remains to be done before that. KOGA is also working on this project with partners Pontis Engineering and Actiflow. “We believe in a holistic approach in which the bicycle as a whole and in conjunction with the preparer is perfected,” says Mark Dorlandt, project leader at KOGA. “We think that there is still a lot to be gained in the integration between the frame and the components, including the cockpit (handlebar and stem), seatpost and wheels.” This is also where the researchers from TU Delft come into play.

The result became the KOGA Kinsei. On this bike the Dutch team ended up with 6 medals on the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. 3 Gold medals, two times sliver and a bronze medal. This bike is a absolute race monster.
